Natural Health Expert Joins The Environmental Illness Resource Web Site

Harrogate, England (PRWeb) February 22, 2007 -- Internationally known doctor of natural medicine and author Dr. Gloria Gilbère is now providing expert advice and writing a column for patient run health web site.

The Environmental Illness Resource web site was created in 2003 to provide information and resources to people suffering from a group of poorly understood chronic illnesses including chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), fibromyalgia (FM), multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS), and autism. The resources on offer include extensive information on each condition, dozens of articles, many written by well known doctors and researchers, active support forums, as well as sections devoted to the latest news and research.

The site was set up by Matthew Hogg, a 27 year old who was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome at age 11 and went on to develop a number of related conditions including chemical sensitivities, various allergies, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

In the context of the web site he uses the term 'Environmental Illnesses' when talking about all of the illnesses covered as a group. This stems from the prominent role that environmental stressors are thought to play in each one of the illnesses. These stressors include man-made chemicals prevalent in our air, food, and water, as well as various infectious agents such as viruses, bacteria, and yeasts.

Talking about what inspired him to make the not inconsiderable effort of starting the web site, Matthew explained, "As anybody suffering from environmental illnesses knows, the medical understanding of these conditions is currently very limited and effective treatments are not widely available," he goes on, "Through my own experience I found that improvements in my health mainly came from learning as much as I could about my condition and seeking out effective treatments my self. As a result I wanted to create a web site that would provide others suffering from environmental illnesses with all the information and resources they need to achieve improvements in their own health."

With The Environmental Illness Resource having grown to over 1000 pages and now receiving around 60,000 visitors every month, it now has the benefit of Dr. Gloria Gilbère's expert knowledge and visitors will also gain much from her new weekly column on the site.

Dr. Gilbère is an internationally respected traditional naturopath, homeopath and doctor of natural health. She is the author of the bestselling books 'I was Poisoned by my Body' and 'Invisible Illnesses', hosts her own weekly web radio show, and helps patients from all over the world.

Commenting on Dr. Gilbère's involvement with The Environmental Illness Resource, owner Matthew, clearly excited, said "To have Gloria on board is just fantastic, I never imagined that such a well known and respected healer would be part of my web site, which started as a small personal site about my own ill-health".

Matthew went on to say that what makes him particularly happy to have Dr. Gilbere's input is the fact that she herself has first-hand experience of environmental illnesses, or 'Invisible Illnesses', as she refers to them. Dr. Gilbère restored her own health after suffering from leaky gut syndrome, fibromyalgia, and multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS). "To have someone offering their services, who is not only very highly qualified in natural medicine, but who has also recovered from environmental illnesses herself is great. I'm sure visitors to the site will benefit greatly from Gloria's knowledge and experience," Matthew said.

Dr. Gilbère's column is called First-Hand Solutions to Second-Hand Reactions, and her first article 'The Lymphatic System - Ignored, Misunderstood and Neglected' is online right now.
